Amazon Orders Import for AbleCommerce 7

Wrapped up a nifty Amazon Order Import system for AbleCommerce 7 this week.     The client wanted to bring in all of their Amazon orders into Able so consolidated sales reporting would be possible.

The import routine supports importing orders by date range, is totally aware of orders already imported and even maintains separate import logs for easy management.

Currently it’s designed assuming Amazon fulfilled the order.  So there is no posting back to Amazon to indicate the Able shipment status etc.   I’d love to work with a client that wants full two-way processing of Amazon orders via AbleCommerce 7.

This programming would require modification to work in AbleCommerce Gold.   However the effort would not be significant.

Free Email Customers by SKU page on AbleCommerce forums

I posted a free page I wrote a while back for my site.  It lets you pull in the emails for customers who bought a particular SKU within a particular timeframe.  Then you can choose any email template to send them.  Works great when you have a recall notice or other advisory you need to send to shoppers who bought something within a certain timeframe.

New version released for QuickBooks Web Connector for AbleCommerce 7

Wow, what an great two months it’s been since I started this project.   So much progress, so many new features.  Few projects have been this enjoyable to bring to completion.

I’ve updated the product description for the QuickBooks module to reflect the new features added.  You can find it here:

The downloadable Demo version has also been updated.  You can find it easily by clicking the Downloads tab near the top on the home page of

2011 Projects and Ideas for AbleCommerce 7 Customization

Well it’s been a while since I did any blog work, so I’m taking a few minutes to update what’s on the horizon.

Projects in the works:

Reports – there has always been a shortage of reports in AbleCommerce 7.  Specifically reports that subgroup on logical data like State or Country.  Look for some new reports coming to the store very soon.

Quickbooks module – this module will be getting some much-needed love this spring.  First I’d like to see it handle sub-groups in QB.  Currently a General Ledger setup that uses sub-grouping like Sales:Merchandise and Sales:Clothing etc isn’t compatible with my module.  That will soon change, along with some better handling of foreign characters that like to mess up the transfer.  I’d love to map up products so a two-way sync could be done, but every time I look at the idea the effort involved completely turns me away.

Loyalty Points module – I’d love to write a new module that handles loyalty points (aka reward points) for your AC7 customers.  If you have any ideas on how it should work, drop me a note on my Contact Us page – I’d love to have your input on the design.

Returns Manager module – this module saw great success in 2010 and I want to continue that with some improvements in 2011.  First I need to add support for automatic re-ordering.  Then I want to add automatic credits with choices like A) To Original Payment Method B) Gift Certificate C) Manual Check etc.

New product category launched

Today I have created a new product category at that will include various performance and utility pages.  The first release page is a performance utility that automatically reorganizes all the fragmented indexes in the AbleCommerce 7 SQL store database.

Many sites have noticed a gradual (and some not-so-gradual) degradation of website performance.  This becomes especially noticeable on active or high-traffic AC7 installations.  Often the problem is simple – index fragmentation.

This new page will automatically scan and reorganize all inefficient indexes in the store database.  It works while your site is live, so you don’t have to shut down your site.  Check out this new release in our new Performance and Utility category here:

AC7 Web Service code is done

Finished the last of the routines I want to add to the Web Service.  Everything came out nicely.

Now for documentation, packaging, install testing and online catalog setup.

AbleCommerce 7 Job Scheduler is released

Public release of my AbleCommerce 7 Job Scheduler is finally here !

The module is very complex with all automation happening at the server level.  This means that absolutely nothing has to be done from the workstation/client level for the automation to occur.  Basket reminders, automatic order follow-up messages and more.

 Check it all out here:
